Kelly: ‘At Vebego, I feel truly appreciated.’

Kelly has now been working at Vebego Cleaning & Services for three years. She started as a Team Leader in the West region, but in early 2024 she was promoted to District Manager for East and West Flanders. Together with her team of Area Managers, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations and quality for customers in her region. And she does so with complete conviction.

How did you end up at Vebego?

"Some former colleagues were already working at Vebego and passed on my name when someone was needed in their region. I wasn't actively looking at the time, but I did feel that I had gradually reached my limit with my then employer. When they contacted me, I was immediately curious. The introductory interview was positive, the conditions were good... I didn't hesitate for long. (laughs)”

“The family atmosphere. You can count on your colleagues, but you also get a lot of independence. And if you have something to say, people really listen to you. You don't feel like a number here – you're just part of Vebego. I can only recommend it.”

 

What does your job as District Manager involve?

"No two days are the same. I support my team of Area Managers where necessary – for example, during a difficult start-up, or if extra help is needed somewhere. Sometimes I literally stand on the floor with the customer to assess a situation. I think that hands-on approach is important.

I also provide intensive guidance to new Area Managers during their induction period. It takes a few months for them to get to know all the customers, processes and systems properly. I am happy to make time for that."

‘In summary: it is still a very varied job, but the focus has changed. I have less direct contact with colleagues on the work floor, but all the more with my team and customers.’

 

What do you like most about your job?

"The contact with people – both my team and the clients. I'm on the road a lot, which makes for a nice change. What's more, I can plan most of my schedule myself, which gives me a lot of freedom. I really appreciate that.

When I first started at Vebego, I immediately noticed a big difference compared to my previous employer. I am now much more involved with clients and colleagues, and that has a positive impact on the quality of our work. The support from my manager is also a huge added value. I missed that safety net in the past."
